Important information
Payment Policy
Immediately upon booking confirmation a down-payment of 20% of the total trip price will be due. In case I can provide evidence, that my expenses before-hand are significantly larger than 20% of the total trip price, this amount can also increase.
The rest of total trip price (either 80% or a fee equal to the total price minus the down-payment) will be due 30 days prior to departure. If you want to pay in installments, just let me know and I will arrange that for you!
Cancellation Policy
In case of cancellation by the traveler, the Incoming Agency has the right to charge a percentage cancellation fee according to the following scale:
Up to 30 days before travel start: a fee equal to the down-payment or 20%
15-29 days before travel start: a fee of 30%
7-14 days before travel start: a fee of 60%
6 or less days until travel start and in case of no-show: a fee of 90%
Instead of charging the above-mentioned percentage cancellation fee, the Incoming Agency has the right to claim the reimbursement of expenses by proving that their own cancellation costs are significantly higher than the above-mentioned percentage cancellation fee
Accomodation
Please note, that the availability of the hotels listed in the itinerary can only be guaranteed at the time of creation of the itinerary.
Depending on the time of your booking the hotel availability may have changed. In that case I will have to choose another hotel or lodge of the same category. And of course, I will let you know immediately, when changes are made to your itinerary.
Furthermore, price changes that occur out of our influence, such as national park fee increments, hotel rate changes etc. will be given directly to the customer.
Travel Cancellation Insurance
During your stay in Tanzania I am providing to you a Flying Doctor First Aid Insurance. Unfortunately, I am not able to offer to you a Travel Cancellation Insurance in case you can not attend your journey in Tanzania. I recommend to contact your local Travel Insurance Company, in your homeland.
What to pack for your trip
Clothes
Avoid wearing black or dark blue clothing during the safari as these colours attract tsetse flies, which transmit diseases and can have very painful bites. It is also best to abstain from white clothing during the safari, as it quickly turns brown due to the ever-present dust. In our safari car, you can wear shorts and T-shirts, as it can get warm inside quickly. For the early morning and evening, I recommend long trousers and long-sleeved shirts or blouses for extra protection against mosquito bites and the cooler temperatures during those times of day.
Packing list:
Shorts
T-shirts
Long trousers
Long-sleeved shirts
Fleece jacket
Rain protection (not needed in dry season from July - September)
Flip-flops or sandals during trips in the car, which can sometimes be long
Sturdy footwear for all expeditions
Headwear
Swimwear
Pyjamas
If necessary: Hiking Equipment (Boots, Jackets, Pullover, Gloves, Scarf and Hat, Thermo-Underwear, Sleeping Bag, Backpack, etc...)
Personal Items
Try to take only the essentials. If you have booked a domestic flight (e.g. to Zanzibar) on a small plane, please note that most airlines only accept suitcases with a maximum weight of 15-20 kg (33 – 44 lbs.).
Packing list:
Passport and Visa

Charger for camera batteries, as well as for your smartphone and tablet

Climate in Tanzania
There is a tropical climate in northern Tanzania, and only small temperature fluctuations happen during the course of the year. Average temperatures during the day are 25-30°C. However, it can also get very cold at night. Tanzania does not have the traditional four seasons, but in the north of the country the dry season is differentiated from the two rainy seasons. The great rain season begins around mid-March and extends until about the end of May. A shorter, lighter rain season takes place from early November to mid-December. Rain is exceptionally rare between June and October, in particular.
The best travel time for Tanzania is in January and February as well as in May and in July/August.
Time Zone in Tanzania
The time difference to Universal Tim Coordinated (UTC) or Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is UTC +3:00 hours during winter season and UTC +2:00 hours during summer season. There is no “Daylight Saving Time” in Tanzania.
