Uber from JKIA airport? Hassle free?

I’m in touch with a driver who is quoting me KSH 3500 to take me from JKIA to Westlands Friday evening, however, my Kenyan friend says it’s a rip-off and suggesting to use Uber instead (around ksh 1200 according the the app). I’ve been to Nairobi many times and very happy with Uber but I’ve never taken one from the airport. In some countries Uber in principle is not allowed to pick up from airports and/or being harassed by police or taxi drives, which makes it a bit complicated… Is it hassle free to book after landing at JKIA and find the driver? Asante :)
