Namibia and Botswana?

Namibia and Botswana?

I’m starting to plan my summer vacation for 2026. In recent years, I’ve been lucky enough to travel across Southeast Asia as well as Central and South America. This time, I’d like to try something completely different. I’m therefore considering Africa, where Namibia and Botswana have really caught my interest. I’ve traveled quite a bit in South Africa before and absolutely love wildlife experiences. Up until now, I’ve never used a travel agency for planning, since I always try to keep costs as low as possible. However, African countries seem a bit less accessible and convenient to travel in, which makes me feel a bit more uncertain this time. Has anyone here been to Namibia or Botswana and can share useful tips or experiences when it comes to planning? How long would you recommend spending there, and on average, how many nights should I stay in each place (I prefer not to rush too much)? I’m thinking about renting a car and driving around. On previous trips to destinations like Vietnam and Colombia, I’ve always been able to balance active travel with some time to relax, either in laid-back towns or at beach destinations. I imagine Namibia and Botswana will feel more remote and perhaps more basic—so I’m curious what the experience is like.
